Don’t leave us – Presby church to Frimpong Manso

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana is
appealing to its immediate past
Moderator, Very Rev. Dr Yaw
Frimpong Manso to rescind his
decision to leave the church.
Very Rev. Manso resigned from the
church on Wednesday.
The decision to resign follows a
resolution by the leadership of the
Presby Church Ghana to severe their
relationship with pro-homosexual
Presbyterian Church, United States of
America over their decision to ordain
gay priests.
Rev. Dr Manso who is on assignment
to the church in USA had been
recalled and asked to report back to
Ghana by December 31 2015 as a
result of the fallout.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on
Thursday, the Public Relations Officer
of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana,
Rev. George Larby said they have
communicated with Rev. Frimpong
Manso and have asked him to
rescind the decision.
When asked whether they have
communicated their call on Rev.
Manso to rescind his decision, the
Public Relations Officer of the
Presbyterian Church in Ghana, George
Larbi answered in the affirmative.
“Oh yes, that one I can say
authoritatively that the clerk of
General Assembly has communicated
with him several times because
recently, there have been some kind
of publication in some private
newspapers but we decided not to
respond to some of them. So the clerk
of general assembly is in constant
contact with the former moderator.”
He said.
Rev. Larbi said they were shocked at
Rev. Manso’s resignation.
“We are appealing to him to
reconsider his decision, we need him,
he is a great man. Everybody knows
the contribution of Dr. Frimpong
Manso…The story came to us as a
shock,” he added.
