Fisheries beat AYA at Axim

Fisheries beat AYA at Axim
On Monday 2nd November, 2015, a Circuit court in Axim slapped a judgement against the executives and entire brand of the Axim Youth Alliance (AYA) for their failure to adhere to calls by the Fisheries Department over a parcel of land which was supposed to have been use to build a toilet facility to curtail the prevailing ‘open free-range beach defecation’ in Axim. Indeed, I was full adulation and praise for the group, since the move in my opinion was a laudable initiative, but the bone of contention was the non-compliance of the laid-down rules or procedures by seeking the full approval of the custodians of the land both at the government level and the traditional authority. This supposed wrong move by the executives led by its President who from the inception of the group in 2014 has taken an entrenched position of parading himself as the ‘Moses cum Joshua’ of our time in Axim to save the suffering masses from the ‘wicked’ leadership of Axim to the promise land. This chap is indeed hailed by his well-wishers both within and outside Axim for his penchant Prima donna way of life as a leader who immeasurably insults the elders for doing little. I always ask myself if this guy was really brought up from home or a house whenever I hear him rants or post. I was indeed ashamed when I realised he hails from a prominent family who over the years have produced a litany of respectable, respectful and above all intellectually potent individuals who have contributed their quota immensely without faulting others. The objection by the authorities and custodians of the parcel of land was as a result of the indiscipline attitude of the President and some members of the group for their ‘raw and despicable’ utterances against the leadership of Axim, adding that there is no head in the whole of Axim. Why this? In fact this was unacceptable and need to be condemned but what did my friends do? They were rather hailed and applauded for their unwholesome salvos. In addition, this same President is going about mobilising and wrongfully inciting his followers to rebel against the verdict of the court, he is going about sending falsehood that some people in Axim are preventing development and for how long must this guy continue to mislead the youth? Instead of using diplomacy to save his group from doing a ‘cost 90 job’ by lobbying and humbling himself in other to catch the favour of the elders and some prominent people to dialogue with the appropriate quarters such as the traditional council and humbly apologize for his reckless and unpardonable deeds, he’s going about inciting his group to rise. Rise for what? If I were him, I would have honourably resign to save the image of the group at this crucial moment where the group is on verge of incurring huge loss due to his bad and indiscipline leadership style which has affected the group in the face of the public and it is time those advisers of his to call him to order and made him become aware of his mistakes. We all make mistakes and I think our fathers whom he has offended are not stupid to forgive him; certainly as human being and matured as they are; they will rescind their decision and even go ahead give their blessings to push the fisheries authorities to have a second look at the issue. I was indeed saddened and disappointed as a youth when I was told by board member of an organisation that a member of the AYA was denied a great opportunity by the multinational company in Accra when he indicated on his CV that he is a member of AYA, an opportunity which was lost due to the supposed bad recommendations and press that they (AYA) have received which the potential employers told the applicant that he will mobilize others to rebel against the decisions of the organisation if given the chance to work. In conclusion, I advise the AYA President to take a careful examination of himself and look around and do an in-depth analysis of his track record since he assumed office as the leader and if his results are positive, then glory be God but if it turns to be otherwise, then he should advise himself since he can’t be a president for the group for life. My passionate appeal to him as a brother from different parents is that ‘he must humble himself and lead an exemplary lifestyle to the up and coming young ones, since life is full of rosy and rough moments. Today it maybe rosy for him because he is the President but he should ask himself should he be impeached or dismissed at any given time in respect to his rebel and arrogant way of life, where would he find himself in the society that he and his cohorts have painted to the world as a ‘Jungle’. He should immediately consider ‘eating a humble pie’ by coming down and refrain from his attack on the elderly since he should remember that old age will catch him one day and someone will do same as the Law of Karma says ‘ You wish for others as you want others to wish for you one day’. Let the wise counselors sit him down and I will call on the members and donors to compel this chap to correct his mistakes and save the image of AYA, since it will be a waste of resources to give out your money where due to the incompetent and indiscipline attitude of the leader will lead to zero output. I hear so far, about 20,000gh have been spent on the toilet project which is going to be left to go down without following the due course. AYA must resort to only one option; thus compel its leader to humbly apologize to those he has used the name of the group and in his capacity as the President to offend and use diploma Source : Egya Adu
